Two men were shot and one Great Bend man remains in jail following an argument that turned violent early Sunday morning, Great Bend Police Chief Cliff Couch said.
At about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Great Bend Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting at 1407 9th St. Upon arrival, they found David Torres, 25, and Gabriel Roman, 44, one of who had been shot in the torso, while had been shot in the leg.
The investigation determined that the two men had apparently had an argument with several other men in the backyard of the residence, by an alley. The hometowns of the victims was were not known at presstime,
Officers were later able to identify several suspects and eventually arrested Jean Landreau-Acosta, 29, on the charge of attempted murder. He was taken into custody in the 50 block of SW 10 Road and turned over to the Barton County Jail and remains where he remains on a $500,000 bond.
Both shooting victims were transported to Great Bend Regional Medical Center by Great Bend Fire Department Emergency Medical Services. They were later flown to Via Christi Medical Center in Wichita for further treatment, but hospital officials couldn’t comment on their conditions.
Couch said the Barton County Sheriff’s Office was also involved in the investigation.
