The Great Bend Recreation Commission is accepting registrations for youth activities taking place during Spring Break, the week of March 17. Space is limited, so Recreation Program Director Garet Fitzpatrick recommends registering early.
Spring Break Kids Day Out will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, and/or Thursday, March 20, the Activity Center, 2715 18th St. Each day will include crafts, games, snacks, bowling or Putt Putt golf at Walnut Bowl along with other organized activates.
“Pizza will be provided on Tuesday and sub sandwiches on Thursday along with snacks and drinks both days,” Fitzpatrick said. Pre-registration is required by March 12.
American Red Cross Baby-sitters Training will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, at the Carl Soden Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St. This Red Cross course gives participants the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants through school aged children. Each student will receive a Red Cross hand book and a wealth of information. Children must be 11 by the class date.   Pre-registration is required by March 14. Students are required to bring a sack lunch and a three-ring binder to class.
In addition to these activities, the Imagination Playground will be set up on Wednesday, March 19, at the Activity Center from 9:30 to 11 am.  This is a free drop-in activity recommended for children 2 years old and older. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
