Great Bend woman dies, others injured in two-vehicle collision
Highway-Patrol

ELLSWORTH — A Great Bend woman died following a two-vehicle crash 1 mile north of Ellsworth at 2:17 p.m. Saturday. Five others were injured.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports a Kenworth semitrailer pulling an empty cattle trailer was westbound on K-156 when the driver braked to avoid striking a farm implement which was stopped on the highway at Ave. I waiting to make a left turn. The semi jackknifed into the eastbound lanes and struck a 2007 GMC Yukon driven by Christina L. Sanchez, 36, of Great Bend. The Yukon rolled and came to rest at the east ditch.
Sanchez was transported to Ellsworth County Medical Center but did not survive.

The semi was driven by Mariano Ramirez, 26, of Beaver, Okla., who was taken to the Ellsworth hospital with undetermined injuries.
There were also four passengers, all from Great Bend, in the Yukon. Alyse Sanchez, 14, and Matthew Allison, 15, were taken to the Ellsworth hospital; Christian Villalovos, 16, and Ethan Sanchez, 3, were taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
KHP reports both drivers were wearing seat belts. The seat belt use of the children was unknown.
