The Haynes Hideaway is just one of many attractive items for the live auction at the upcoming Heartland Cancer Center (HCC) Benefit, said Mark Mingenback, St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center director of marketing.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Club at Stoneridge. Tickets are $35 each; heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served. Make a reservation by visiting www.stroseasc.org and clicking on the “auction” icon.
The hideaway is a home that accommodates up to 20 people at Lake LBJ near Marble Falls, Texas; it has a swimming pool. The winning bidder will be entitled to a four-night stay anytime up until next May 15.
Other highlights of the live auction are three pews from the former fifth-floor chapel at St. Rose that have been modified to fit business or individual needs; diamond hoop earrings; a 65-inch television; Colbert Hills golf outing in Manhattan; a football signed by Kansas State University Coach Bill Snyder; a basketball signed by Kansas University Coach Bill Self; and a Henry Golden Boy .22 rifle.
The American flag that was flown at a United States air base in Baghdad on Sept. 11, 2007, once again will be the revolving live auction item.
At least 90 items will be available during the silent auction. They include tools, gift cards, artwork, housewares, baked goods, massages, portrait sittings, automotive services and a Radio Flyer wagon.
“All proceeds go directly to the HCC Patient Care Fund,” Mingenback said. “We are trusting in the generosity of central Kansans to make life a little easier for patients and families facing difficult times.
“Previous auctions and our annual golf classic have allowed us to raise almost a half million dollars for our neighbors with cancer,” Mingenback continued. “A good turnout will help us add substantially to this important fund for the uninsured and under-insured.”
HCC is part of the St. Rose family.
St. Rose is part of Centura Health, which connects individuals and families across western Kansas and Colorado with more than 6,000 physicians, 15 hospitals, seven senior-living communities, physician practices and clinics, and home-care and hospice services.
