Police are continuing their investigation into a hit-and-run collision Saturday evening that caused the death of a woman walking home from church in Great Bend. The victim has been identified as Rose Younger, 90, of Great Bend.

The vehicle and woman that the police were looking for over the weekend has also been found and it is believed they were not involved in the fatal hit-and-run, Great Bend Police Chief David Bailey said on Monday.

According to Bailey, at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, GBPD officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Broadway in reference to a subject lying along the south side of Broadway Avenue. It was determined the woman was struck after she had left the Prince of Peace Parish Center and was walking home. Younger later died due to injuries from the accident.

Younger was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Broadway which left the scene. The GBPD is looking for anyone who has video surveillance of the area.

Her obituary appears on page 2 of today’s Great Bend Tribune.

The Great Bend Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating any other witnesses. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call the Great Bend Police Department 620-793-4120, or Crime Stoppers, 620-792-1300.
