Hoisington stand-off ends without incident

 Thursday night, Aug. 20, at 10 p.m., Hoisington Police and deputies from the Barton County Sheriff’s Office were called to 673 W. 3rd St. in Hoisington where a man was in his garage, threatening to harm himself.

It was reported the subject had a handgun in his possession.
Officers surrounded the residence and Captain Josh Nickerson began negotiations with the subject over the phone.  About an hour later, negotiations were successful and the subject came out and surrendered a handgun.  He was taken into custody without further incident. 
Nickerson declined to share the name of the subject, noting the case is still under investigation. He was taken into custody for protective custody, criminal threat and obstruction.
