The 2022 season of Great Bend Alive’s “Final Fridays on Forest” is over, with the Nov. 25 event officially canceled. However, downtown Great Bend will be busting this Saturday with the annual Home for the Holidays parade and activities.

Sara Arnberger, president of Great Bend Economic Development, commented on the decision to cancel the November “Final Friday,” and the success of the event throughout the year. The programs went out on a high note with last month’s Haunted Friday on Forest. “It was a huge success,” she said.

Each Final Friday brought people to the 2200 block of Forest Avenue, right in front of the Great Bend Tribune. The street was shut off to vehicular traffic so that tables and chairs could be set up. There were food and drink vendors, games and live music.

“We were hoping to have one more event in November but with workforce stretched thin everywhere, we are canceling Nov. 25th’s Friday on Forest as well as the Snowball Drop,” she said. The Snowball Drop would have featured Santa shooting plastic foam snowballs out of a canon. “However, Great Bend Alive is looking forward to putting together a banner year in 2023 for Fridays on Forest!”

Final Fridays will resume in April 2022.
