Due to the icy weather, the United Way of Central Kansas’ Light to Unite Holiday Hustle, originally scheduled for this evening has been postponed until next Friday, Dec. 4, UWCK Executive Director Julie Bugner Smith said.

Early Elf registration will be $20 by Tuesday. Late Elf registration will be $25. One child under age 14 years will be free with one paid adult registration. Additional children will be $5 and children must be accompanied by an adult. The first 100 registrants will receive a hat or ear warmer. Online registration will begin October 1.

This will not be a time event, therefore; bikers will lead the group, followed by the runners and then the walkers. However, participants are welcome to track their own time for personal goal purposes. 

There will be two fun holiday contests included and each contest will have first-, second- and third-place prizes.

• Light to Unite Contest: Find anything you can that lights up or glows to decorate your bike, stroller or wagon. A judging panel will be established to determine whose “wheels” shine the brightest.

• Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest: Dust off those ugly holiday sweaters for your chance to be awarded as wearing the most hideous sweater in Central Kansas. The same judging panel will determine the winners.

Registration the evening of the event will begin at 5:30 pm and the fun run will begin at 6:30 p.m.

If individuals would like to participate in either of the two contests, photos will be taken during registration the night of the event at 5:30. Winners of both contests will be announced at the conclusion of the fun run.
