Rosewood Furniture Gallery will once again be a showplace of warm holiday cheer for the seventh straight year in downtown Great Bend during the annual “Holiday Tables Spectacular.” This year’s event, which is slated from 1-5 p.m. on Nov. 10, represents a changing of the guard. After many years of presenting the event that ushers in the area’s holiday season, the Great Bend Beatification Committee has handed the event off to the Rosewood Services.
Proceeds from “Holiday Tables Spectacular” goes to Rosewood’s non-profit Roots & Wings Foundation, which helps to fund educational, medical, and therapeutic expenses not covered by other means for people with developmental disabilities who are served by Rosewood Services.
“We’ve enjoyed coordinating this annual community event with the Beautification Committee for six years in a row, and now we are grateful that the committee has given us this opportunity to carry it forward,” said Rosewood Services executive director Tammy Hammond. “While we will keep many of its traditions, we are introducing several new facets, which should add holiday cheer and excitement to the occasion.”
For starters, this year’s “Holiday Tables Spectacular” will only require a $5 admittance fee and will include wine tasting for those in attendance. People will be able to taste up to five varieties of Rosewood Wine. Other refreshments will be offered, along with hors devours, made by Rosewood’s Industrial Kitchen. In addition, wine will be for sale by the bottle and the glass during the event.
Twenty tables are available for decoration this year. There is no charge to decorate, but participants must stop by the Rosewood Furniture Gallery, 1607 Main Street, Great Bend, during regular business hours to claim their tables and to receive instructions for decorating. The tables will be designated for participant use on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Tables will be judged this year and winners will be announced in three categories: People’s Choice, Most Creative, and Most Complete. Winners will receive a commemorative bottle of wine and a $50 gift certificate, good for purchases made at the Rosewood Furniture Gallery and at the Wine Cellar.
In addition to hosting “Holiday Tables,” Rosewood is offering three drawings that will be announced during the Nov. 10 event. People can sign up in advance at the Furniture Gallery or at the Wine Cellar, in downtown Great Bend, during regular business hours. They do not have to be present at “Holiday Tables” to win. The Foundation is suggesting a donation of $2 per ticket or $5 for three tickets. The top drawing to be given is a free wine tasting with hors devours for eight people, hosted by the Rosewood Winery. The winner of the wine tasting drawing must be at least 21 years old to claim the prize. Rosewood will also hold drawings for a horse hair pottery piece, a furniture piece, and a table center piece for Christmas.
