The countdown is on for the annual United Way of Central Kansas kickoff event and tickets are now on sale. Join UWCK on Aug. 5 at the Columbus Club in Great Bend for a night of food, fun, and fundraising.
This year’s theme is “Huddle Up! We’re Kicking Off 2024!” Sponsors invite the public to join the team and work toward creating a better community for everyone.
The Colorado Keys are back with their Dueling Pianos to provide the soundtrack for the night. “Whether you love classics or current hits, they will play the songs that you want to hear,” sponsors said. “Plus, you can enjoy a delicious dinner of burgers and brats from Ellinwood Packing Plant cooked up by the Knights of Columbus. Sides of scalloped potatoes, baked beans, and dessert will complete the meal.”
But the night is not just about good food and live music. The UWCK Kickoff event is a vital fundraising effort that supports numerous non-profit organizations in Barton and Pawnee counties. These organizations focus on providing critical services in the areas of health, education, and financial stability. By supporting UWCK, you are helping uplift your local community and making a real difference in the lives of those who need it the most.
In addition to the great food, music, and company, guests will have the opportunity to participate in exciting raffles and auctions. The 50/50 raffle is a fun way to take home some cash while bidding on silent auction items will help the UWCK meet their fundraising goal. Live auction items are also available to bid on, giving you the chance to take home something truly unique while supporting a great cause.
United Way of Central Kansas is committed to creating impact programs that enhance the lives of community members. The Reality U program offers students a glimpse into how their financial futures might look, teaching them valuable skills and providing real-world experiences. Box of Love delivers holiday cheer to families in need while Laundry Love helps provide clean clothes to those who might need a little extra help. And thanks to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, local children from birth to age five can receive a free book each month, fostering a love of reading and literacy.
With your support, we can continue to make central Kansas a better place to live, work, and play. The UWCK Kickoff event is not just a night out; it’s a chance to do some good, support the community, and have fun while doing it.
