Insurance price hike, employee contracts on USD 428 school board agenda

A special Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education meeting is set for 7:30 a.m. Thursday, June 29, at the District Education Center, 201 South Patton Road.

At this meeting, Superintendent Khris Thexton will make a recommendation concerning the 2023-2024 district property insurance. The Kansas Educational Risk Management Pool (KERMP) is a member-owned consortium comprising public K-12 Kansas school districts. The insurance renewal quote for $466,702.20 for the 2023-2024 school year has an increase of $180,229.94 from the previous year, according to board materials.

Other items on Thursday’s agenda are approval of contributions, personnel report, acceptance of the negotiated agreement, pay adjustments and contracts. Before adjourning, the board will approve end-of-year budget expenditures and transfers.
