K-96 bridges in Rush County scheduled for repairs
Placeholder Image

On Monday, July 11, the Kansas Department of Transportation will begin a construction project to repair two bridges west of Rush Center on K-96 highway in Rush County. The bridges are located approximately 3 miles and 5 miles west of the K-96 junction with US-183 highway.

These bridges will continue to carry K-96 traffic during this repair project, but will be reduced to one lane controlled by a traffic signal.

There will be a 13 foot width restriction in the work zone, so vehicles with widths wider than 13 feet will need to use an alternate route.

The bridge repair work will consist of placing a new driving surface on the bridge. This project is scheduled to be completed by November, depending on delays caused by weather conditions.

PCiRoads from St. Michael, Minnesota is the prime contractor for this $256,748 project, funded by T-WORKS, the transportation program passed by the Kansas Legislature in May, 2010.

KDOT urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and "Give "Em a Brake!" when approaching and driving through a highway work zone.

Persons with questions about this road work can contact South Central Kansas Public Affairs Manager, Martin Miller, at 620-663-3361 or 1-877-550-5368 (Toll Free).
