ELLINWOOD — A benefit fundraiser poker tournament will be held for 11-year-old Kadin White, who is suffering from acute lympoblastic leukemia, beginning at 1 p.m. on Feb. 23 at the Ellinwood American Legion, 117 N. Santa Fe. White also has Down Syndrome and has an infection. He is in Wesley Medial Center in Wichita.
Kadin’s parents are Briana Wenke White and Dustin White.
Registration starts at 1 p.m. with the tournament beginning at 2 p.m. The chair rental for poker is $30 with a $10 bounty. There will be several raffle prizes available for $1 per ticket or 6 for $5 (You do not need to be present to win). There will be bigger ticket items available for silent auction the day of the tourney.
Items included in the silent auction include 1/2 hog, $500 towards carpeting and free install and several gift baskets.
Homemade soups and pulled pork are available as well for a free will donation. Soups include chili, white chicken chili, ham and beans, vegetable beef and chicken noodle.
“They need all the support they can get right now as their son battles cancer,” say organizers. “Kadin is the most loving child most people know! He brings light into everyone’s lives that he enters. Kadin has been fighting hard and these last two months have been incredibly rough. He has been in the hospital the majority of the last two months and his loving family has been by his side.”
