Governor Laura Kelly signed a proclamation declaring today, March 12 as Kansas Water Day in observance of World Water Day which takes place March 22. Kansas state agencies will come together at the Capitol rotunda to share information about one of our state’s most valuable resource. The event will last from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kansans rely on surface and groundwater in our state for agricultural, industrial, municipal and recreational uses. Observance of Kansas Water Day encourages Kansans to learn more about this resource which provides for so much, and consider ways in which they can personally protect Kansas water.
Today and every day Kansas citizens are asked to act on a shared commitment to conserve and use wisely the water resources necessary to support the state’s natural resource needs for current and future generations.
