The Kansas Pipeline Association (KPA) is a group of over 45 pipeline companies and municipalities dedicated to promoting pipeline safety by collaborating with emergency responders and public officials across the state. The KPA seeks to maintain effective liaison with emergency responders and public officials to avoid pipeline emergencies, as well as to ensure a safe and coordinated response in the unlikely event of an emergency. This effort also strives to increase public awareness of the presence and purpose of pipelines in our communities while educating the public on how to recognize and react to a potential pipeline emergency.

The KPA holds over 35 meetings throughout the state each year, provided at no cost to emergency responders. The meetings are designed to furnish participating agencies with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage pipeline emergencies, in the unlikely event one occurs. Each year, agencies completing the in-person meetings or online training modules are automatically entered into a drawing. Of those entered, a total of 15 agencies are presented with a check for $1,000 which can be utilized to benefit their departments or the communities they serve.

Gorham Fire District 1 has been awarded a $1,000 check from the KPA. The funds will be used for a self-contained breathing apparatus.

The Kansas Pipeline Association remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety of Kansans.
