Birding Basics and Cheyenne Birding Field Trip will be held in August at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center, 592 NE K-156 Highway.
Birding Basics will be held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 21. Mike Rader, renowned birder and KDWP Wildlife Education Coordinator, will be at the Kansas Wetlands Center to discuss helpful identification tips and information about commonly found birds in Kansas. Birding connects you to nature in an educational, fun, and cheap way and through this class, you will learn how to get started on your way to a rewarding connection wild birds. A guided field trip to Cheyenne Bottoms will be offered to workshop participants immediately following the program.
Cheyenne Scoutlands Birding Field Trip will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Aug. 28. Come explore the great outdoors with Eric Giesing, KWEC Educator and Biologist, and enjoy an afternoon of birding at Cheyenne Scoutlands in Great Bend. Eric will lead a guided walking and driving tour of the Scoutlands and will point out birds and other wildlife along the tour. The tour is free of charge but is limited to 25 people. Tour will meet at the Kansas Wetlands Center and caravan to the Scoutlands. Some binoculars will be provided.
