The Kansas Department of Transportation announced this week the approved bids for state highway construction and maintenance projects in Kansas. The letting took place Sept. 19, in Topeka.   

District Two — North Central

Ellsworth - 156 27 KA 5009 01   K 156, from the Barton/Ellsworth county line east to the north city limits of Ellsworth, surface recycle, 20.0 miles, Bettis Asphalt & Construction Inc., Topeka, $1,843,205.61.

District Five — South Central

Barton - 281 5 KA 5034 01 - U.S. 281, from the north edge of wearing surface of bridge #100 (over Dry Walnut Creek) just north of Great Bend north to the Kansas and Oklahoma Railroad tracks in the City of Hoisington, milling and overlay, 8.9 miles, Venture Corporation, Great Bend, $1,250,140.69.

Rush - 183 83 KA 5012 01 - U.S. 183, beginning at the south La Crosse city limits north to the Rush/Ellis county line, milling and overlay, 12.1 miles, Venture Corporation, Great Bend, $1,507,569.71.

Stafford - 281 93 KA 4992 01 - U.S. 281, from the Pratt/Stafford county line north to U.S. 281/U.S. 50 junction, ultra thin bonded asphalt surfacing, 9.1 miles, Venture Corporation, Great Bend, $767,100.89.

The following projects have been approved from the Aug. 22, 2018, letting.

Ness - 96 68 KA 4257 01   K 96, from 7th Street to School Street in Ness City, grading, 0.6 mile, Bryant & Bryant Construction Inc., Halstead, $1,108,535.65.
