The Kansas Wetlands Education Center will offer two free crane tours, starting at 5:30 p.m., on Oct. 27 and 29 at Cheyenne Bottoms.
Join the KWEC staff for evening tours to witness one of autumn’s spectacular journeys – the sandhill and whooping crane migration. The sight and sound of tens of thousands of cranes coming into the marsh to roost overnight is an unforgettable experience. There is also the chance whooping cranes, one of the rarest and most striking of North American birds, may be present.
The tours take place in conjunction with the Shafer Memorial Art Gallery’s Choreography of Cranes Art Show that runs through Oct. 31.
To reserve a seat or for more information, call KWEC at 877-243-9268. There are a limited number of seats. In the event of bad weather or a lack of cranes, tour participants will be notified of cancellation.
