Children can decorate a gingerbread bird house, using kits provided by the Kansas Wetlands Education Center. There are a limited number of kits, so sign up by Nov. 18.

To celebrate the Christmas season, the Kansas Wetlands Education Center is providing a modified open house, including gingerbread birdhouse kits for families to complete over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend or any time. Since the popular Christmas open house activity cannot take place as normal, KWEC’s offering a way to still participate.

Kits will contain a graham cracker bird house and base, choice of cinnamon blue bird or cardinal, a bag of decorating candy, meringue powder, icing bag and instructions. You supply the powdered sugar and your child’s creativity!

There are a limited number of kits, so sign up by Nov. 18. Pickup of kits runs Nov. 22 – Nov. 28. There is no charge for this activity.

While picking up your kit, find KWEC’s Christmas goose and earn the opportunity to win a $50 gift certificate to KWEC’s gift store. He’ll be hiding somewhere within the Center. The drawing will take place Nov. 30. Gift store shoppers may also purchase one item at 40% off, excluding consignment items. New merchandise is arriving daily.
