Today’s digital age makes computer skills essential for career advancement, finding employment, and basic tasks in nearly every field. Finding a way to train individuals on necessary skills can be a challenge, but there are resources available to those who want to learn. The Great Bend Public Library is excited to announce a partnership with Goodwill Industries of Kansas to bring a mobile “classroom on wheels” to the Great Bend area. The LearnIT Digital Skills Classroom is a fully-outfitted bus with ten computer stations, and a certified instructor will offer a variety of hands-on workshops for people of all skill levels.

Classes offered will vary from very basic computer skills (for those new to using desktop computers), to instruction on Microsoft Office and Google software, to intermediate computer skills, to one-on-one input on getting started in an Information Technology career. We can even request a class tailored to a group’s specific needs or interests. Classes are entirely free to all participants, because the program is funded completely by Goodwill Industries of Kansas, Google, and other generous Kansan donors. If you want to learn more about the LearnIT program, visit www.goodwillks.org/learnIT.

The library will soon begin taking sign-ups for the first round of classes, which will be in April. We will have physical forms in the library for you to fill out, as well as an online version that you can complete on our library website. Once we have a date set in April, we’ll publish the forms! Keep an eye on our website and social media pages to see when they are out.

See the schedule below for the library’s activities during this upcoming week. For more detailed information on any library events, programs, or resources, check out our website, send us an email (gbcirc@greatbendpl.info), or call the front desk (620-792-2409). You can also “like” and follow us on Facebook and Instagram. Have a great week!
