As night fell Sunday, the Great Bend Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation continued their investigation into the Sunday morning shooting that left a man dead.

According to a news release from the Great Bend Police Department, officers responded early Sunday to a home on Lakin Street where the man had been shot. The victim was treated by the Great Bend Fire Department Emergency Medical Services at the scene and transported to Great Bend Regional Medical Center where he died.

Authorities are investigation the case as a homicide, the release stated. Investigators are following up on multiple leads.

The name of the victim has not been released out of respect for the family. No other information was available Sunday evening.
