UNDERSTANDING SOCIAL SECURITY Did you know that financial well-being is part of overall health? Being in control of your personal finances empowers you to make healthy decisions for you and your family. In this session, we will discuss how social security works, eligibility for benefits, and how to find your full retirement age. For Ages 18 years and up, on Wednesday March 27, noon at the Activity Center.

HEALTHY WALKING WITH FRIENDS Join some of your friends and meet some new ones for this free drop-in walking program. Walking is a great way to exercise and enjoy some fresh air as you walk around Veterans Lake.

Participants will meet at the Fit Trail Exercise equipment on the north side of the lake.

This will be a 10-week program that will meet every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The first walk is scheduled for Monday, March 25, and the last walk is scheduled for Friday, May 31st. If the weather is questionable, the indoor walking track at the Great Bend Recreation, City Auditorium (1214 Stone St.) will be available for walking.

Hopefully, you get into a routine and continue this program after the 10 weeks are finished. The group will meet at 1:30 p.m. After meeting participants will be able to walk as a larger group, several smaller groups or even as couples at your own speed and distance that you feel comfortable walking. The most important thing is to get outdoors with friends and walk.

Periodically throughout the program, Karissa or the Great Bend Rec will give a short wellness presentation at 1:30 pm for participants.
