Grant application paperwork presented to Stafford County Commissioners

ST. JOHN — The Stafford County Board of County Commissioners met on Wednesday, March 20, in the Commission Room in the Annex. Commissioner Todd Wycoff called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. with all commissioners present.

Commissioner Bryce Garner moved, and Commissioner Jim Stanford seconded, to approve the minutes of the March 13 session. Motion carried 3-0.

Rob Murrow, Sheriff, joined the meeting to discuss a tentative date for the unclaimed property sale the sheriff ’s department will be having. They are considering scheduling the sale for May 18.

Shannon Snyder, Health Department Administrator, presented grant application paperwork for the following grants for the period of July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025: IAP, PHEP, MCH, State Formula, and Family Planning. Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to sign the grant paperwork. Motion carried 3-0. Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to sign the consultant agreement with Dr. Farmer. Motion carried 3-0.

Snyder advised that she had an agreement to be signed by the IOOF Lodge allowing her to use the building as an emergency location. She also advised the commissioners that the health department will be holding a health fair at the IOOF Lodge on Thursday, April 11 from 7-10 a.m.

Phillip Nusser, Road Department, presented the final contract paperwork for the Mansel Concrete Construction pit. Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to sign the revised contract for the Mansel pit. Motion carried 3-0.

Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to move to executive session for 15 minutes pursuant to the non-elected personnel exception to discuss non-elected personnel. Motion carried 3-0. Those present: Commissioners, County Clerk, County Attorney, Vanessa Cornwell, Lisa Milton, In at 9:43 a.m. Out at 9:58 a.m.

Ryan Witt, Noxious Weed, presented the contract with KDOT for treating noxious weeds on state highway rights of way.

Carl Miller and Lu-Ann Brister met with the commissioners to discuss scheduling a county government day to have high school seniors come to learn about county government processes. May 8th is being considered as the day to schedule this.

Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to recess to executive session for 15 minutes pursuant to the non-elected personnel exception to discuss nonelected personnel. Motion carried 3-0. Those present: Commissioners, County Clerk, County Attorney, Carl Miller, Vanessa Cornwell, Lisa Milton. In at 10:05 a.m. Out at 10:20 a.m.
