Great Bend High School has received $7,905 in contributions for its Community Service Day, USD 428 Superintendent Khris Thexton told the school board on Monday.
Those cash donations came from community businesses and individuals to help pay for expenses, which will include a T-shirt for every student so they can be easily identified when they are out on April 22. The district also received donations of 150 pairs of gloves and 30 cases of water for Community Service Day.
These and other donations and grant applications were approved at the April 13 school board meeting:
- Lincoln Elementary School received $370 from Lincoln PTO for 6th-grade yearbook donations.
- GBMS Booster Club contributed $305 for 8th-grade recognition key chains and $1,249 toward the purchase of a popcorn machine.
- GBHS Special Education teacher Amy Turner applied for and received a grant of $250 from Midwest Energy.
- GBHS Activities Department received the following:
- GBHS Softball/Baseball $1,000 from Mike Hesher
- Activities Reward Incentives $217.83 from Identifications Co.
- GBHS Softball program athletic gear $1,102.84 from Panther Booster Club
Personnel report
The board also approved the personnel report, which included two resignations at the end of the school year and several appointments for the fall semester:
Shelly Duvall, teacher of Physical Education at GBHS, and Michelle Geist, a first-grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School, offered their resignations. Appointments were approved for:
- Emily Mooney, teacher of Grade 3 at Park Elementary School
- Jena Lynn, teacher of Elementary Digital Literacy
- Michael Marzolf, teacher of Computer Technology at GB Middle School
- Lauren Jordan, teacher of Grade 5 at Eisenhower Elementary School
- Davis Mick, teacher of Physical Education at Eisenhower Elementary School
- Ethan Wedel, teacher of Music at Lincoln Elementary School
- Christopher Engler, teacher of Kindergarten at Lincoln Elementary School
- Adriana Arras Rodriguez, teacher of Grade 1 at Lincoln Elementary School
- Haley Delgadillo, school psychologist for Barton County Special Services
