ST. JOHN — These are the minutes from the Stafford County Board of County Commissioner meeting.

The Stafford County Board of County Commissioners met on Wednesday, June 10, in the Commission Room in the Annex. Chairman Garner called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Present: Bryce Garner, Todd Wycoff, and Jim Stanford.

Trent Harman, Road & Bridge, presented a quote for a new Caterpillar Motor Grader. Foley has advised him that next year this grader model will change and the machines will have less horsepower and will be lighter. For that reason, Trent would like to move up next year’s purchase to this year. The quote is set up for two payments like the previous grader purchase. This machine would replace the Komatsu grader and would carry an extended warranty. The purchase will be made from the Road & Bridge Special Equipment Fund. Commissioner Wycoff moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to approve the purchase of the new grader for a total amount of $384,924.38 with the first payment being made now and the second payment to be made in 2027. Motion carried 3-0. Trent also discussed the right-of-way purchase that will need to be made for the new bridge project. The landowner has been contacted, and Kirkham Michael will manage the acquisition process.

Rebecca Austin with Stafford Clay Buster Trap Range met with the commissioners regarding a one-time funding request to assist with improvements at the range. They are looking at expanding due to the number of shooters they now have participating. The range is averaging around 40 participants and 16 athletes participating on the Stafford High School Trap Team. The project has already been started; they are just asking for the county to help get it completed.

Ryan Russell, Economic Development Director, met with the commissioners regarding the CDBG Day Care project. He presented an administrative services contract with SCKEDD. Commissioner Wycoff moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded to sign the contract. Motion carried 3-0.
