Riley Elementary School physical education teacher Bryan Scott will retire at the end of the school year. His retirement, along with Tina Hiss from GBHS, was announced as part of the personnel report approved at Monday’s school board meeting.
Scott is also a longtime USD 428 teacher. In 2014, Riley School was one of 15 pilot schools in the state to implement a Walking School Bus, and Scott was the coordinator of the program at his school.
The district is now looking for teachers to fill those positions in 2024-2025. Assistant Superintendent John Popp listed other vacancies:
- Riley -sixth grade
- Lincoln - fourth grade
- Park - kindergarten
- Little Panthers Preschool - preschool
- GBMS - social studies, life skills, physical education
- GBHS - English, science and AG/CTE (agriculture/career technical education). Also, Principal Tim Friess is retiring at the end of the school year. Applications for the GBHS principal position are being accepted until Jan. 15
