Jerry Moran to be in Larned Wednesday

Congressman Jerry Moran, R-Hays, will be in Larned for a “Meet and Greet” at 9 a.m. Wednesday, at Glory Be, southwest corner of 7th and Broadway. The public is invited, and asked to come a bit before 9 o’clock if possible. Moran is seeking the United States Senate seat being abandoned by Sen. Sam Brownback, who is running on the GOP ticket for Kansas governor. Moran is a big favorite, according to oddsmakers and pollsters, to win the senatorial election on Nov. 2.

St. John-area woman wins Best of Show in WAE vying

Rebecca Drach from the St. John area was Best of Show winner in the recent Western Art Exhibition competition. The Creative Arts Council is presenting a one-person show of her work at Fort Larned National Historic Site. She will be setting up the show during the day on Sept. 1 with the Arts Council-sponsored opening reception that evening.
