LARNED — The Larned Ladies VFW Auxiliary met on the second Monday of the month for their regular meeting. Rita Kurtz presided. Anne Graner led the opening ceremonies.
The following were elected to serve as officers for the upcoming year: President—Rita Kurtz; First Vice-president—Lynette Lewis; Second Vice-president—Marcheta Jacobson; Treasurer—Karen Gilkey; Conductress—Barbara Penka; Chaplain—Lisa Holt, Guard—Rachel Bird; and Trustees—Barbara Penka, Anne Graner, and Shirley McGee.
Karen Gilkey, who is District 7 president reported on the spring convention. She was re-elected president, Marcheta Jacobson was re-elected as chaplain, and Rita Kurtz was appointed as Legislative Chairwoman.
At Convention, the Larned Auxiliary won first place in Americanism. They also captured a first- and second-place in Poppy Displays.
The proceeds from last month’s card party will be donated to the Larned fire department. Money was also donated to the VFW and the Wounded Warrior Project.
The next meeting is May 11 at the Post Home in Larned.
