Alpha Kappa Master meets

LARNED — All members were present for the Sept. 12 meeting of the Alpha Kappa Master chapter at the home of Rosie Rein.  Earlier in the day, Rosie Rein hosted a coffee for former members and residents of Larned, Effie Smith of Marion and Sue Schuster of Topeka. The chapter presented a prayer quilt to Smith made by Alice Clapsaddle through the auspices of the First Presbyterian Church prayer quilt ministry.
President Alice Clapsaddle noted that the chapter has received a three star rating for the past year and thanked the social committee for the recent tailgate party prior to Larned’s homecoming football game.
The next social event is the dinner theater presentation “A Family Reunion to Die For”, a production of Larned High School and sponsored by Prairie Arts, beginning at 6 p.m. on October 9.  Tickets are $20.
Rosie Rein gave the Beta Book Drill reading a Beta Sigma Phi song.  Marcia King reviewed various courtesies extended to members and others given throughout the summer months. Connie Carlton reviewed service projects for the coming year.
John Makings, MS, LMLP, presented the program on the Drum Circle and members participated in various rhythms using drums and various sound instruments. Marcia King will host the next meeting Oct. 10 at the Jordaan Library.
