Celebration scheduled
LARNED — A 50th birthday celebration is scheduled during business hours Friday for Dr. Mike Burdett, veterinarian at Larned Veterinary Clinic, 1443 120th Ave. The come-and-go event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday. Refreshments will be served.
Burn ban extended
LARNED — The Pawnee County Board of Commissioners extended the burn ban Monday for all of Pawnee County, for the next seven days. The commission will review the burn ban Monday at its next meeting.
Commission to meet
LARNED — The Pawnee County commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Pawnee County courthouse.

Insect workshop
will start June 29
LARNED — The insects are coming. The insect collectors are coming, too.
Pawnee County will be the site of the 20th annual Kansas State Entomology Workshop Friday, June 29 through July 1 at the J. A. Haas building in Larned.
Activities will include insect games, educational classes, collection trips, contests, and guest speakers. The workshop is open to 4-Hers, Scouts, Teachers, project leaders or anyone interested in learning more about insects in a fun and creative atmosphere.
Activities are geared towards group interaction, challenging and fun learning experiences, and leadership skills training. For registration or information contact Vicky Wallace at (620) 285-6231.
“This year we will have a class on the new photography phases of 4-H entomology,” Wallace said.
