‘Time for a Change’

LARNED — The Pawnee County Health Department will start the six-week program “Time for a Change,” with a kickoff at the Larned Community College at 6;30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Speakers Dr. Jeff Burnett will deliver a speech, “Being Realistic about your Health,” and Dr. David Sanger will deliver a speech, “Personal Story.”
The program starts with weigh ins from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pawnee County Courthouse. Registration and information is available at the Pawnee County Extension Office, Pawnee County Health Department, Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Pawnee County CHO and the Larned Community Center.

CNA course to be offered

LARNED — Barton Community College will offer a certified nurse aide course on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 1 through Nov. 3 at Larned Health Care Center, 1114 W. 11th Street, in Larned. Instructor Andra Alderson will direct the class from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Students are required to complete an enrollment process that includes admission application to Barton, a reading assessment, completion of documents and payment prior to the start of the class. The fee for Barton County residents is $475, which includes tuition, fees and the state exam fee. The non-county fee is $490. A textbook fee is additional. To receive certification, students must complete the state examination. Scholarships for part-time students are available.
