Quilting Bees meet

LARNED — Members of the guild met July 19 and welcomed guest Rosella Sydow. 
The July workday has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 23. Thank you notes were read from Sacred Heart Church for Father Felix quilt, Chuck Irvine of Des Moines, Iowa and Thread Benders Quilt Guild. 
Janis Lewis of Poulsbo, Wash. send two cards announcing quilt shows in her area.  Ann Hicks thanked all who have recently helped with prayer quilts. Thanks also to Lavada Kraft for taking guild projects to the Barton County Fair.
The guild received two complimentary tickets to the Pawnee County Fair Canteen for their donation of scissors for awards. Additional announcements included a presentation by Pat Knoechel on September 15 and August workday on August 13.  The next regular meeting will be on August 2 with the fat quarter drawing to be cowboys/western.
Show and Tell participants were  Alice Clapsaddle, Christmas placemats, two children’s quilts and a baby quilt; Colleen Wolf, knitted afghan; Mary Tudor, jelly roll strip-baby quilt in pastels; Carol Tims, Pioneer quilt blocks; Lavada Kraft, Underground Railroad 6 inch blocks; Ann Hicks, Patriotic wall hanging, Baseball Player wallhanging and Musical Instrument quilt in black and white.

Pawnee Commission to meet

LARNED — The Pawnee County Commission will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Pawnee County Courthouse.
9 a.m. — Public Building Commission, bonding company discussion.
9:30 a.m. — Mary Beth Herrman, Pawnee County health dapertment. 
10 a.m. — Denise Wood, Communty Corrections/Juvenile Justice Authority,
11 a.m. — Kurt Demel, Pawnee County highway administrator, road updates.

Lab days scheduled July 29

LARNED — The monthly Pawnee County Health Department’s lab days is scheduled Friday, July 29. The clinic starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 10 a.m. at the 1st floor of the Pawnee County Courthouse, 715 Broadway. Patients need to fast from midnight the evening before.
Available lab tests are Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, $30; PSA (prostate specific antigen) $20; and HGBA1C $10. Comprehensive Metabolic Panel includes lipid profile, thyroid TSH, electrolytes, liver enzymes, glucose, hemogram (CBC) and other tests.
The health department offers the service in conjunction with Pawnee Valley Community Hospital and Quest Diagnostics. The first-come, first-serve, walk-in clinic requires no appointment. The lab days are scheduled the fourth Friday of each month. No insurance is billed and clients are responsible for following up on any abnormal results with their private medical provider.

Burdett coffee hour July 29

BURDETT — The Pawnee County Health Department will sponsor the coffee hour at the Burdett Senior Center from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 29. The Burdett Senior Center is located at 203 Elm Street.  Come out and enjoy some good conversation and donuts.
