Library event Saturday

LARNED — Jordaan Library in Larned will sponsor a Dolly Parton Imagination Library “Share Your Favorite Book” come-and-go event from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
If your child is receiving books through the Imagination Library program, you are invited to drop by the library Saturday morning to share one of your favorites, and also join a story time session.
Sign up is available to youngsters in the 67550 zip code for children from birth through 5 years of age.

BURDETT — The Burdett Sons of the American Legion will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a hog roast at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Burdett American Legion. A free-will donation will be taken.

K-State event April 23

LARNED – The annual Larned area K-State Dinner for alumni, friends and future K-State students will be held April 23, at the Knights of Columbus on Scenic Drive in Larned.
The Wildcat Welcome is at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. There will be campus guests and scholarships will be awarded to local students in attendance who plant to attend k-State in fall 2012. There is no charge for current high school juniors and seniors.

Quilting Bees meet

LARNED — Ann Hicks welcomed Merlene Baird and members to the April 17 meeting of the guild. Note was taken that donations of fabric, thread and patterns were donated by the family of Elsie Morgan, and individuals Nelda Satterlie, Susan Gray, Diann Morell, Becky Obermiller and Coleen Wolf.  
The tulip fat quarters were won by Sandy Donovan.  
The May fat quarter drawing will be frogs.  Prayer quilts have been made for Thelma Row, Kim Bennett, Bob Rein and Troy Fox.  
The guild will offer an Opportunity Quilt for a drawing.  See any member of the guild for donation stubs.  The next meeting will be on May 1 with a demonstration.
Show and Tell participants were  Opal Macy, 12-inch block; Diane Schultz, Modern Log Cabin top in yellow and blue; Waneta Mausolf, 60th anniversary queen size quilt made by daughter Cheryl Rasmussen; Alice Clapsaddle, finished table runner of scraps from Elsie Morgan and tied Christmas throw; Virginia Bauer, baby bid and table runner from scraps of Elsie Morgan; Ann Hicks, red and white block placemats, green and lavender table topper from donation of Elsie Morgan, Turning Twenty quilt in blue and white and Kindle quilted cover.
