Rozel dinner Wednesday

ROZEL — The Rozel FCE and the city of Rozel will sponsor a community dinner in the Community Building Wednesday. The building opens at 11 a.m. for cards and fellowship. Lunch will be served at noon. Bring a covered dish and your own table service. Drinks will be provided.

Legion Riders will
sponsor coffee hour

LARNED — The Larned Chamber of Commerce coffee hour will be sponsored by the American Legion Riders at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Jordaan Room at the Chamber, 502 Broadway. The Legion Riders will have a display of items available for their upcoming drawing.

ALG boss wants pay
for veterans, parks
 
FAIRFAX, Va. —Americans for Limited Government President Nathan Mehrens urges Congress to adopt legislation by Rep. Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.) that would fund the Department of Veterans Affairs, and pass similar legislation to fund the National Parks Service at levels required by sequestration.

“With the government partially shut down, Congress should immediately adopt legislation that will fund our nation’s veterans and national parks,” Mehrens said. “These are two functions that need not be caught in the crossfire over whether or not to implement the health care law.”

Community health fair
set for Friday morning

LARNED — A community health fair is scheduled from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at  First State Bank & Trust, on the second floor. Flu shots and flu mist will be available. Lab testing at reduced rates will be available.

Garfield Fire District
schedules coffee hour

GARFIELD – The Garfield Fire District and the Pawnee County Co-op will sponsor a coffee hour at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Garfield Community Center.
The Garfield Fire District, city of Garfield and Garfield, Orange, Pleasant Ridge and Santa Fe townships recently purchased a fire truck for the Garfield Fire District. The Co-op and Community Bank will make a financial presentation to the fire department.
Visitors will be able to view the firehouse and meet the volunteer firefighters and EMS personnel.

Sandstone Pumpkin Patch
will be Saturday, Sunday

LARNED — It is time for the Sandstone Pumpkin Patch again!  The Pumpkin Patch will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Visitors can pick their own pumpkin and enjoy walking through the patch at 914 W. 2nd. All proceeds will pay utilities for the Food Pantry/Orphan Grain Train Building.

Sacred Heart Altar Society
sets ABC Sale Oct. 11-12

LARNED — Sacred Heart Altar Society will sponsor an A-BC SALE (Anything But Clothing and Shoes SALE) from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 11 and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 12 at the Sacred Heart School gym.
All proceeds will benefit the activities of the Altar Society.
