Kansas Farmers Union
president will appear

LARNED — Donn Teske, Kansas Farmers Union, president, has scheduled a question-and-answer session on agricultural issues at 2 p.m. Friday at the Pawnee County Courthouse.  The public is welcome.
Teske said the group wants fair trade policies, affordable health care, improvement of rural roads, adequate funding for education. During the 2012 Kansas legislative session, the Kansas Farmers Union opposed the legislative sweep welcoming corporate agriculture into Kansas.
Kansas Farmers Union is a general farm organization based in McPherson, affiliated with the National Farmers Union in Washington, D.C.


LSH plant, craft sale
scheduled Friday

LARNED — The horticultural therapy workshop at the Larned State Hospital will sponsor a plant and craft sale 8 a.m. to noon Friday at the LSH Greenhouse. Featured items include holiday craft items, decorations, wreaths and foliage plants.

LARNED — Jacob and Ezra Hallman will perform Christmas carols and original music from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Scraps, 612 Broadway.

LARNED — The First Presbyterian Church of Larned will hold a Candle Light Service on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The public is welcome.

Christmas Eve service

BURDETT — The Burdett United Methodist Church will sponsor Christmas eve services at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 showcasing the community choir at 502 Elm Street in Burdett. The public is welcome.

Flu vaccine available

LARNED — Walk-in clinics with no appointment for flu vaccine are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Friday at the Pawnee County Health Department at the Pawnee County Courthouse. Flu vaccine is recommended for anyone 6 months of age and older.
Signed consent forms by parents for children under 18 years of age are required. A consent form is available at www.pawneecountykansas.com.
Flu mist and high dose vaccine are available. Insurance cards will be needed. Private pay fees are accepted and the department has a sliding fee scale available as needed. For information, call 620-285-6963 or 800-211-4401.
