HUTCHINSON – This spring break, students in grades 4-6 can learn from an actual astronaut at the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson.

Steve Swanson, a retired NASA astronaut, has logged over 195 days in space, including two shuttle flights, a Soyuz flight, and five spacewalks. He’ll be at Cosmosphere Camps Spring into STEM, March 11-15 to answer questions, sign autographs, and lead virtual reality activities.

The five-day camp includes: VR activity, picture, and autograph from Swanson; introductory mission to low-Earth orbit in our Astralis Simulator; train like an astronaut in our 4G centrifuge; send up an experiment on our high-altitude balloon; tackle engineering design and astronaut mission challenges.

Cosmosphere Camps give participants a deeper understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math — from learning about the solar system and conditions required for a lunar base in elementary school to how to build a settlement on Mars in high school. Space is limited. Sign up at https://cosmo.org/cosmosphere_camps/spring-into-stem/.
