A citizen of Mexico was indicted Wednesday on a federal charge of distributing methamphetamine.
The crime is alleged to have occurred Feb. 26 in Russell County.
According to court documents, the Kansas Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle driven by Maria Alonso-Espinoza, 29, on I-70 and found 21 pounds of methamphetamine.
If convicted, she faces a penalty of not less than 10 years and a fine up to $10 million. The Drug Enforcement Administration investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mona Furst is prosecuting.
