EDITOR’S NOTE: With the 2016 general election looming Tuesday, candidates at all levels have had to file their final pre-election campaign finance reports by Monday, Oct. 31. Candidates for federal offices (Senate, Congress and the presidency) file with the Federal Election Commission. Candidates in Kansas for state, city and county offices file with the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission. This is the first of a three-part series detailing these reports.
Longtime Republican incumbent Jerry Moran will face two challengers in the Tuesday general election. Also on the ballot are Democrat Patrick Wiesner and Libertarian Robert Garrard. Moran defeated D.J. Smith in the Republican primary, while Wiesner defeated Monique Singh to win the Democratic nomination. The primary elections took place on Aug. 2.
The information detailing their campaign income and expenses are outlined in information filed with the Federal Election Commission by the Oct. 31 pre-election report filing deadline.
