A new addition to the annual Sunflower Diversified Services pancake feed will result in prizes for several lucky raffle winners, said Connie Oetken, the non-profit agency’s director of development.
Raffle tickets will go on sale starting Aug. 1 at a cost of $5 per ticket; with the purchase of five, get one free.
Winners will be announced at the pancake dinner, which is set for 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21 at the Prince of Peace Parish Center, 4100 Broadway in Great Bend. Cost is $5 per person.
Ticket holders do not have to be present to win.
“Our pancake feed has always been successful in raising money and awareness about Sunflower and its many services,” Oetken said. “We decided to step it up a notch.”
Sunflower serves infants, toddlers and adults with developmental disabilities and delays in Barton, Pawnee, Rice, Rush and Stafford counties.
Oetken outlined the prizes for first through sixth places:
The top winner will receive two $100 EPPI gift certificates – one for beef, one for pork; second place earns four $50 gift certificates to Applebee’s, Delgados, Perkins and Classic Inn. A $100 gift certificate for Zip’s at 10th and Grant will go to third place.
Fourth through sixth places, respectively, will bring a $100 Pro Tint wash and wax certificate; $50 Wal-Mart gift card; and $50 Dillons gift card.
“Everyone who participates in any Sunflower fundraiser can be assured that every cent we raise remains here in our local communities,” Oetken said. “Tax revenues have been cut and the people we serve rely on their neighbors’ generosity for health-care services and adaptive equipment – to name just a couple of needs.”
