Great Bend Economic Development, partner of Advancing Barton County Childcare, will break ground at 10 a.m. Thursday at Farmer’s Plaza on the corner of 10th Street and K-96 for the new ABCC daycare facility.

“Advancing Barton County Childcare, established by Great Bend Economic Development Inc., has taken on the crucial task of securing funding and constructing a state-of-the-art group daycare center in Great Bend,” said GBED President Sara Arnberger. “Recognizing the pressing need for reliable and accessible childcare services, this 6,500-square-foot facility is the first of several day cares to be built across Barton County.”

The ground-breaking ceremony is celebrating the physical beginning of the project as well as celebrating that this project is now fully funded, thanks to a substantial grant from the State of Kansas, she said. Funding partners, contractors, architects, board members and legislators will be on hand for remarks about the project.

“This event promises to be a moment of celebration and anticipation, as ABCC unveils exciting developments surrounding their endeavor,” she said.
