STAFFORD — Have you seen “Reagan!” It is a great movie! I am so glad the Ritz has first-run movies right here at Stafford. Great Movies, Great Prices, One Mile from home, what could be better! “Reagan” was a trip that should have been down memory lane, but because of politics, national security, and me being involved in me, I was amazed at all that “Reagan” accomplished and what a helpmate Nancy was.

The book that helped form Reagan’s character, but you could never quite see the title is, “The Printer of Udell’s” by Harold Bell Wright.  It is a work of Christian Fiction that touched Reagan at a young age and helped form structure and guidance throughout his life. The book is still available on Amazon, but I couldn’t find it on the Kansas Library Card.

Thanks to SCKLS (South-Central Kansas Library System), the library has completely new internet wiring – no splicing internet wires throughout the library. The previous wiring job had many splices, which can cause problems with internet reliability. The new wire also allows faster internet service. They showed up Wednesday morning with boxes and boxes of wire, a variety and number of ladders and energy and smiles to get the job done. They were finished by Thursday at noon.  What an amazing job! It is a Win-Win for our patrons. Thank you SCKLS for always taking care of us.

We are looking forward to Oktoberfest at Stafford on Oct. 5. I am making up clues for the Louan Tally Medallion Hunt and wondering what team will end up with the $100 prize. The first clue drops on our Facebook page at 9 a.m. Then every hour until 1 p.m. or medallion is found.

Come join the fun and learn a little Stafford history.

Have you been on our Facebook lately? Shawna Duvall, one of our board members, has been adding features along with new program news for the library. She is excited to be involved in the library in this way. Watch for Shawna and another board member, Dalton Hernandez on stage at Oktoberfest promoting the library and our Facebook page.

Preschool Storytime, Monday morning at 10 a.m., has become a fun time for Sandy and me. The parents and kids have a nice time making memories at Nora’s. Come join the fun!

Save Your Photos Day, as announced by SCKLS, is next Friday, Sept. 27. I will be at a grant workshop that day, but if you have photos you would like to transfer to your USB device or to your icloud, come by the library and we will work on getting your photos saved on your device. This can happen any time the library is open although it would be good to check ahead of time, so I can reserve time to show you how to do it. Scanning photos is quite easy and it is great to have them in a digital format that you can share with others or zoom in and see details.

ESOL classes are still meeting once a week. They are adjusting to a fall schedule, so if you would like to come and learn English with Rachel contact the library for new times.

October is about here and we are working to set up some new adult learning opportunities. Stay tuned to see what fun opportunities we find.

The Senior Center and the Library are partners in engaging a representative from SouthWest Kansas Area Agency on Aging  at the library, Nov. 7 for Medicare Open enrollment. Save the date and call us for an appointment.

Remember to sign up for a State of Kansas Library Card at Nora’s Place.

Make your Oktoberfest Plans and come see how Stafford has FUN! at https://www.oktoberfeststaffordks.com.

Next Board Meeting: 6 p.m. on Oct. 9.
