CLAFLIN — The city officials say 4-4,500 people were in town maybe even close to 5,000. So many back yard barbecues were held. Plans are already being made to do another event in five years.
Every time you turned around, there were those faces of "Oh my goodness - I know you!!" said Maragaret Frisbie, organizing committee. "I have heard so many people say how bad their jaws and cheecks hurt because of the laughing and talking and smiles!" The T-shirts and souvenir books were a big success and are still being requested.
Food vendors ran out of food, and the beer garden ran out of all their beverages before last call. The Saturday morning race had 61 entries and the golf tournament had 33 teams - both which exceeded expectations. There were also old football jerseys, basketball jerseys, track outfits, and all the old band uniforms that were sold in the cafeteria!
"Truly was a wonderful week-end," said Frisbie. "This whole community came together and reunited with long time friends and retouched with those they had long forgotten about."
From California to Texas, to Indiana, to Florida.... we found there was one common expression. "No matter where we live, Claflin is and always will be HOME." Once A Wildcat - Always A Wildcat was the theme, and clearly the theme still works.
