HOLYROOD — DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) culmination for the Central Plains Elementary School 5th graders took place on Monday, after 11 weeks of classroom education. Barton County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Brad Patzner instructed 24 students from Lisa Ryan and Kara Potter’s classes.

Steve Woolf, Central Plains Superintendent, encouraged the DARE graduates to realize that they are someone’s hero and role model. They should take what they have learned from this program and share it with others. The Central Plains High School role models were Joe Barton, Alanna Burris, Ty Heitschmidt, Abby Holmes, Will Radenberg, and Lindsey Woodmansee.

Each of the participants was required to write an essay about what they learned from the DARE program. Kealy Burris, Hayley Chamberlain, Blake Gorton, Paxton Hammeke, Avery Hurley, and Ethan Strong were chosen to read their essays at the culmination.
