ELLINWOOD — Ten members of the Ellinwood High School Forensics Team competed at the KSHSAA 2A State Forensics Championships held at Bishop Carroll High School in Wichita on May 5. Ellinwood placed 6th in team sweepstakes out of 37 schools represented in the tournament.
Of Ellinwood’s thirteen events, seven advanced to the top 12 (semi-final) round. Connor Birzer, Hannah Maddy, and Jenna Snell each advanced in two events, and Shiani Hughes and Rachel Schloctermeier advanced in one event.
Four of those events advanced to the final round, where students earned medals for placing in the top six. Snell placed 3rd in both Informative Speaking and Original Oration. Birzer and Maddy placed 4th in Duet Acting, and Schloctermeier placed 5th in Informative Speaking.
Tawny Arndt, Hannah Billinger, Jenna Collins, Rachel Doll, and Megan Orndoff also represented Ellinwood in the tournament. The students are coached by Julie Ann Jacobs and Angela Petersen.
