The 3rd annual Kans for Kids Golf Tournament was another outstanding success for the organization. There were 24 teams and 96 golfers that participated in the tournament as they opened their hearts for four Barton County boys living with childhood cancer.

Aaron Fryberger, 14 and Dade Cannon, 7, both of Great Bend are in their third year of treatment in Kansas City for leukemia (ALL). Kaito Richter, 2, Great Bend is being treated in Wichita for a Ewing’s sarcoma. He recently underwent surgery to remove the tumor and will continue with two years of chemotherapy in Wichita. Tanner Blackwell, 12, Hoisington, is at M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas and will undergo a stem-cell transplant in mid-June for a recurrance of leukemia (AML). All four boys are members of the Kans for Kids Fighting Cancer Foundation family.

Aaron, Dade and Kaito were on hand to be the first to tee-off to begin the tournament and received a thunderous round of applause from those participating in the event.

Following an afternoon of golf, a raffle and auction was held.

Miss Kansas, Jennifer Mangum, was on hand throughout the day to assist with the tournament. Gail and Alan Moeder and Kenny and Laura Alefs, along with members of the Kans for Kids board of directors hosted the successful event and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all who supported and participated in the tournament.
