Hotel draws visitors
Descendents of Fred Wolf, former owner of the Wolf Hotel, Sally Gladwin and Linda Kuehle, visited the Wolf Hotel on Monday while they were briefly in Ellinwood. Pictured above are Gladwin and Keith Kuehle as they look at an old menu from the Wolf. Due to an article about the hotel they had been passed on to Gladwin from the Great Bend Tribune, Gladwin wanted once again to see the building that she had not seen in decades. Both women had spent portions of their childhood in the community, although both admitted they had never seen the tunnels before. Seeing the facilities stirred up many memories for both of the descendents. Gladwin is from Santa Fe, N.M. and the Kuehles are from Joplin, Mo. The Wolf Hotel was recently purchased by Ellinwood native Chris McCord whose goal it is to once again the facility as a hotel and is currently opening the downstairs for weddings and events.
