HOISINGTON — Hoisington resident Kristi Lovett has been named as the new Hoisington Chamber of Commerce executive vice president. She will take over her duties after the first of the year.
“The opportunity is great,” she said. “I look forward to working hard and proving myself.”
“We’re excited to have her join us,” said Brian Wilborn, president of the chamber board of directors. “She’s excited to join the chamber.”
He went on to say that they had several applications and that Kristi is very qualified. Wilborn said the board is glad she applied.
Current Chamber Executive Vice President is Stacey Bressler who resigned after 26 years. Bressler is planning to move to Arkansas.
Kristi and husband Mark have lived in Hoisington for seven years. He is the pastor of the Concordia Lutheran Church.
Since living in Hoisington, Kristi has worked at the Hoisington Dispatch and at First Kansas Bank for the last two years. In her spare time, she has been involved in volunteering at Hoisington Main Street Inc., the Hoisington Chamber of Commerce, and at her church. At the church, she plays the organ, teaches Sunday School and is involved in other activities such as the Christmas program.
The new administrator is originally from Houston, Texas. Mark is from Brownsville, Texas. They have family that still lives in that state.
Kristi received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University in Psychology. The Lovetts have three children, Joshua, 10, Sarah, 6, and Kristopher, 4.
As a pastor, Mark was assigned to Hoisington. The Lovetts have really enjoyed living there because of the opportunities that they have encountered, including “to have a say in what happens,” Kristi said.
She also went on to say that in Houston, she never would have had the opportunity to be the chamber director.
Krisit and Mark have opened a small business, the Long Drive Driving Range. It is located in south Hoisington. They plan a full scale opening in the spring for the golf driving range.
As a part of her new duties, Lovett plans to meet with the local business, get to know them better, and raise awareness of what they offer. She is also pleased with the direction the community is heading.
“I’ve watch Hoisington come back alive over the last seven years,” the new administrator said.
Although very busy, Kristi has one hobby that she participates in each week. She drives one-and-one-half hours each way to Hutchinson on Monday night to sing in the Hutchinson Sweet Adelines Chorus. The Sweet Adelines, which is an all-female choir, present one annual show each year, and they attend a competition as well.
The new beginning also means an ending in her work experience as Kristi has enjoyed her time at the bank. “I will really miss the bank and the personal and professional development they’ve allowed me.”
