CLAFLIN — Former Claflin resident Phil Grosshardt has been named as the announcer for the parade for the upcoming All-School Reunion in Claflin on Memorial Day weekend. Entries for the parade will line-up at the baseball field at Claflin High School at noon on May 29, the day of the parade.

On Memorial Day, the regular Memorial Day service sponsored by VFW Post 8668 will begin at 10:30 a.m. on May 30 at the Claflin Cemetery.

There will be another service immediately following the regular service in remembrance of the tragedy that occurred 50 years ago with the death of a local boy in an accident. As a result, the city began Emergency Medical Services.

The Wildcat 5K/10K Run or Walk advanced registration cost is $20. Race day registration is $25. The race day registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. on May 28 at City Park. The race begins at 8 a.m. Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers as well as the oldest and youngest participants. The T-shirts for the race are different than the reunion T-shirts.

The reunion T-shirts will be white with purple lettering along with the old style Wildcat. The cost will be $15 in advance by May 18 with $2 extra for sizes 2-5XL.

The cost for the reunion souvenir books is $20. Orders are being taken in advance, and they will include current addresses for alumni, in addition to other historic information.

More information about the day can be found on Facebook or by calling Lois Krier at 587-3560 or Murine Prosser at 587-3678.
