HOISINGTON— Clara Barton Hospital and Clara Barton Hospital Foundation announce the launch of a new Guardian Angel Giving Program that offers a unique way for grateful patients and their families to say "Thanks!" to a nurse, doctor or other hospital staff who made a difference during their hospital experience.

Clara Barton Hospital staff receive gifts in appreciation for the care they provided to patients. Clara Barton Hospital Foundation’s Guardian Angel program will offer patients and their loved ones a permanent way to say "Thanks."

The donation will help to improve and sustain hospital services in honor of staff and the care provided. Each caregiver who is recognized by patients or family members will be honored as a "Guardian Angel" during a special presentation among peers and will receive a Guardian Angel lapel pin, a photo of the presentation and recognition in Foundation publications.

Michelle Moshier, executive director of the Clara Barton Foundation, said "The Foundation is excited about sharing with recipients of our services the opportunity to be a partner in our efforts to ensure patients have access to the most advanced treatments possible through this giving program. When a grateful person gives a donation, we hope they will consider recognizing a special nurse, doctor, or other hospital staff member or maybe an entire department who demonstrated extraordinary care. Large or small, the gift will be a great encouragement to the staff while helping the Foundation to purchase needed equipment and build better facilities."

The Foundation received its first guardian angel donation the day after Thanksgiving. The recipient of the honor is Doris Meyeres, administrative assistant with Clara Barton Hospital. The patient’s family gave a monetary donation in her honor for the kindness and hospitality that she showed in helping to arrange a gathering space in the hospital for the family to share time with each other and their mother on Thanksgiving. "We appreciated having a space so close to mom’s room to sit with her throughout the day," said a member of the family.

Everyday, I see the staff and physicians at Clara Barton Hospital perform exceptional care", says Curt Colson, president and CEO of Clara Barton Hospital. "The Guardian Angel Program will be a wonderful way to highlight those who bring to the patient and their family members personal touches and care above and beyond the call of duty."

Patients or family members can recognize any hospital staff members including any direct care providers or any support staff. There is no minimum gift amount required to participate in the program. If you have had an extraordinary Clara Barton Hospital experience that you would like to share with the Foundation we would be happy to hear from you.
