A Great Bend man suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was arrested after an injury accident Sunday night.

According to Lt. Bill Browne at the Great Bend Police Department, officers responded to the intersection of Odell St. and Walnut Drive at 9:46 p.m. Aaron Andrews, 29, who was arrested at scene, was eastbound on Walnut Drive in a Pontiac G8 and reportedly ran a stop sign. His car struck a Chevrolet pickup driven by Scott Johnson, 19, who was southbound on Odell. The pickup struck the southeast curb and flipped onto its passenger side, striking a legally parked Ford Ranger pickup.

Johnson and his 17-year-old passenger Megan Henry were taken to Great Bend Regional Hospital by Great Bend Fire Department Ambulance, and Henry was then flown to Via Christi’s St. Francis Hospital in Wichita for possible head injuries.

Andrews was not injured.

A spokesman for Via Christi said Henry was in good condition Monday afternoon.

Anderson was booked into the Barton County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.
